A leaf sheep that has been swept away from its family. Back then it was meek and frail despite coming from the esteemed outskirts gang; so naturally it was going to be someone's lethal meal, as sea slugs are notoriously poisonous. When it thought that it was done for, another young slug shot away at the predator with their mainfested Uzi and asked the sheep if it was okay. "What's your name" it asked playfully curious and the sheep muttered "S-Suiha..."

The child stood there for a second before they proclaimed "I'm Ō-sen! I'm the world's greatest slug, duh!" And they quickly became vigilante friends. Suiha would learn various techniques from their bunny friend and they would too manifest their own weapons out of their flesh - the leaf blade (which can shrink to be a Gunbai-esque weapon) and the leaf shield (Tedate). They were their protégé, even if the bunny downplays their own strength, after all, they were more self-taught than anything.

However, at the end of the day, they had different ideals.

Osen, in spite of their talent for battle, was extremely unhappy with the dog-eat-dog system of the sea. Hell, as soon as they were born they almost got devoured by their "mother" who did not want them. Hence, their name. They did not want to participate in this vicious cycle, and believed that subjugating yourself to the "higher-ups" is a moral suicide, as you would become one of the pillars that perpetuate this cycle.

Suiha, on the other hand, while weakly agreeing with Osen's ideas of peaceful life where prey doesn't have to worry about being eaten, they were more concerned about having a peaceful life for *themselves*. They sought comfort while Osen sought change.

So when one of the officials offered them a job at their ranks, Suiha eagerly agreed and said that they will also bring their friend with them. But when Osen heard about this, they violently rejected them.

"B-B-But!... We could make a change from the inside! You know, if they acknowledge our efforts, they will change their ways and stop unnecessary predatorial attacks!"

"You don't understand! They will rewire you to serve THEM! There's no such thing as a change from the inside! The longer you stay with them, the more convenient you become to rule over! You'll become loyal to THEM, and it's not good, since you'll become subservient! C-Can't you just terminate the contract? There's gotta be a way to get out of this..."

"Osen..."

To see their friend deny the opportunity to make a change was awful to them... Or better said, them rejecting the opportunity to be with them was awful to them. Sure, Suiha believed the change can be done from the inside, it wasn't the reason they joined the forces. It was because they wanted to live among the higher-ups, to live a luxurious life in the centre of the capital. Sure, for any low-life like them it's a dream come true, but for their friend, who was stubborn in their convictions at the time, it was a sure-fire way to say "I give up". Osen, in the heat of passion, "disowned" their friend and ran away, wishing that they would have never met.

Suiha was heartbroken. What is a dream when you have no one to share it with? So when they got officially recruited, their sole motive was to prove them wrong and bring their friend back. to. them.

They trained relentlessly, there were numerous negotiations between them and higherups, had studied the law and politics day and night. Through their blood and tears they managed to climb the ranks from a mere recruit to the officer. They had many allies along the way, either fearing how ruthless they are or praising for their strength; but deep down there was a brewing hatred towards one person. The person who had motivated them to become the person they are today.

Osen.

They want them really bad. They want to choke them, make them submit to their will and beg for forgiveness. Just to see their sorry face contort in pain makes their mind go wild. So they used their power to order their subordinates to track them down and bring them to them, lying that they were a wanted criminal that they needed to arrest.

Osen meanwhile, had become more mellower from that encounter, now not seeing lowlives who join the ranks of higher-ups as traitors, but more of people who were desperate. If joining such a position would help them to feed their family, so be it; just as long they won't forget their roots. And there's no way THEY are going to join their ranks as no matter their talent, they would rather not be used as a reinforcer of such an awful system that got them and many, many others killed. In fact they currently hide their combat prowess and are doing private investigative work where they research life in the capital compared to suburbs and outskirts by asking various residents and helping them along the way if needed. Unfortunately, their kind-hearted nature would backfire against them as one of the Suiha's subordinates managed to trick Osen into meeting "their boss" for an interview, as they're a low-life just like them and Osen. By then Osen had forgotten about Suiha, so when they met them, they were in for a surprise. They almost didn't recognise their old friend at first, as their iris became pink after their rigorous grind, but as soon as they spoke their name, it hit them like a truck

"Osen..."

Osen was bewildered, why are they brought here and why is their friend staring at them like that as if they want to completely eviscerate them? Their old, cute and timid Midori was gone; now it is a complete ruthless monster who is standing before then. They try to congratulate their friend about getting the job, as it did make the life easier for low-lifes, but it pissed them off even more. They don't want "back-handed" congratulations, they want them to beg. Beg for forgiveness, beg for being wrong. Beg for them to accept them in their rankings. Osen was trapped, unable to properly apologize for their behaviour all those years ago. Suiha started to slowly approach them, cornering them even further, saying that they were monitoring their every movement to get to that point where they can finally--

"Run away, now!!!"

The same subordinate who brought their beloved victim to them had betrayed after they realised what kind of brutal event is going to occur. Osen quickly ran off, fighting off other officers who thought of them as a criminal and not a victim of a corrupt low-life higher-up while the subordinate was fighting off Suiha. Suiha then led a chase against them, trapping them at every corner, begging them to join them until eventually...

"GAH, I'd rather die in the wild than be with YOU!" And they ran off into the "endless wastes", the area which had no protection from the predators. They tried to chase them there, but they were promptly stopped by their superiors. And so this lustful hatred continued to brew. They were madly in love with them, but they also deeply hated them for rejecting them back then. But they couldn't do anything about it, not alone anyway.

Until a curious, yet dimwitted shrimp had asked about their incessant staring at the wastes.

Sure enough, with their closest co-patriots, they had gotten the courage to chase their lover once and for all.

And it will be their last chase for them. For the person who had both healed and hurt them the most.
