Two shrine priests tend to the shrine that contains two deities. One is of the island's embodiment of life, the other is of the island's embodiment of death. One led to liberation, one led to imprisonment. One is connected to waves and one is connected to skies.
It is currently sunny with clouds, and one of the priests, having a soldier's attire strikes the same old question they love to ask
"How are you feeling, Barakin?"
The other priest, who is much shorter than them and has a traditional priest attire, sighed in response, asking if they have any more interesting questions to ask.
"Come on, I just want to make sure you're feeling serendipitous. After all I don't think I met anyone stronger than you!"
"... I'm fine... I'm always fine." They said, clearly annoyed
The soldier hugs them tightly, saying how much they're glad to see the priest, all fine and dandy.
To an average observer, it seems odd to call that dour priest "all fine and dandy" and whatnot, but a select few people know how much that priest had suffered to get to that point. To the point where they can finally be unbothered by the troubles of life. That soldier is one of them.
The soldier kisses the priest on the forehead, which was a point of content between older locals, and says that they will always stay by their side.
"What a foolish slug." Thought the priest and continued to tend to the shrine while the soldier goes to hunt.
All alone, they think about their parent. It is... Conflicting to say the least. On one hand, their vengeful side was actively torturing them, forcing them to do things they didn't want to do... But on the other hand... They were with them all those years; and when they got pacified, they were genuinely remorseful and if not for enshrinement, they would've definitely confined themselves to hell. Now that they're enshrined, they barely communicate with anyone, still feeling shame and guilt towards people they were supposed to protect.
They go inside the shrine, make an offering and ask.
"Am I doing it right, Tenmuyonji-Saishi?
