"How's the dream research is goin'? Any progress on that?"
"Well, it seems that I can maintain my own dream quite consistently. In the past, I've had unique dreams, but at some point - I ended up being enamored by a certain dream of the vast black ocean. And so - unbeknownst to myself - I mentally trained my spirit to retain the "dreamscape", a some sort of pocket dimension of my own creation.
Now, last year we've discovered the possibility of "dream transfers", where a dreamer can visit the dream of another person. For that I assume a strong attachment and/or desire must be applied in order to be able to do so with ease. During that first time, I was thinking about seeing you again someday, and lo and behold - I ended up being transferred into your own dream."
"To which I wasn't even suspecting it was a dream."
"Indeed, while it seemed that your actions are conscious and intended - you weren't aware of that it was a dream: while I was aware of my own dreaming for the longest time. From the brief research I done - what I was experiencing is a lucid dream, while you were experiencing a vivid dream, with only partial lucidity as you were in control of your actions."
"So where does it lead us?"
"Well, I can vaguely recall - before I was transported into your dream, I was talking to someone: but what were they saying and how they looked like elude me."
"Hmm... I wonder if anyone experienced the same?..."
"No doubt about it - the issue is getting verifiable claims. It will be hard to trust others and it'll be harder to convince people of our experiences. We live in the society driven by logic after all."
"Like you."
"Ggh, come on - I'm not THAT driven by logic... Well, not at until you arrived."
"Hehe~"
Dreams... For the longest time, those were accepted as prophetic visions of fantasy, it is perhaps due to them it was easy to believe in myths, as the more you convince that something is real, the easier it is for it to influence you on the inside. But with the advent of science, we became more obsessed with certain explanations that defy the mysticism.
However dreams... Those seem to be unbound by that certainty that people have grown to feel comfortable with. The closest we have gotten to dreams' explanation is that they're reflection of our experiences, with them serving as way for our brain to process such experiences.
There's still a lot we don't know about them.
Is there truly a possibility of a mythical realm to which one's soul is transferred to? One can only imagine. However if that hypothetical scenario is true - it is a blessing and a massive curse.
