Stage 5: Redwood Tower ~ Ley Knot; Connecting Chain of FATE...

Shinji: Phew... I'm finally here...

Shinji: What a dream.

Shinji: I knew they could be vivid, but to feel this real - yet so fake... It's amazing.

Shinji: The scenery is awe-striking for sure. Floating through it makes my heart go wild... Like I truly belong here.

Shinji: It's truly a shame that real world doesn't hold candle to this.

???: Welcome... Um...

Shinji: Um???... Who's there???

???: Ah, can't believe I messed this up... It was supposed to be a mysterious entry.

[Amagane no Maboroshi - Dreaming Queen of Golden Moon]

Maboroshi: I'm Amagane no Maboroshi, the Queen that holds this dream world together. That tower... Is the anchor that binds it all.

Shinji: Nice to meet you, I'm Shinji Terano. Uh, apologies for a roughed up appearance.

Maboroshi: I-It's alright!... I've been watching your every move since you've arrived. That tower allows me to oversee everything that happens in this dream world. And by extension - feel the presence of the visitors.

Shinji: For what was supposed to be a terrifying and imposing figure, you carry yourself pretty casually.

Maboroshi: Speak for yourself, I'm surprised that you're as composed as you are under the circumstances. Though that means you're adjusting pretty well.

Shinji: Just glad I get a moment of respite for once.

Maboroshi: Well then, I suppose you have encountered "them", right?

Shinji: You mean that ghost person? Yeah, that. I heard from them that this world is a state of unrest and that someone like me is needed to resolve it, why is that?

Maboroshi: You see... This world is in peril. A certain person is trying to destroy the dream's barrier.

Shinji: Wasn't people saying the destruction of this world can also be caused by the tower?

Maboroshi: That too, but it is essentially impossible to do so. It is a nucleus. It won't fall down any easily, not even if you reduce it to debris. As long as the certain point remains still - it is capable of rebuilding itself from scratch.

Maboroshi: Not to mention, me and my loyal fleet are guarding the tower and keeping this world at peace. Please don't worry about that.

Maboroshi: However what I can't control is the destruction of the barrier from the outside. As a resident of the dream world, I can't access what you may know as Nexus - let alone the real world. That's where you are most needed.

Shinji: O-kay, and why is that?

Maboroshi: Because there is a lucid dreamer with powers far greater than me. He seeks the absolute destruction of this world, by any means necessary.

Maboroshi: Which, as the sole (ostensible) ruler of this land, I simply can't allow. Dream residents, in spite what you may believe - are beings too. I can't let him erase us by his whims. The destruction of this dream means my own end too.

Shinji: ... Understood. Are there any specific reasons why he would go as far as to do all... That? That doesn't make any sense to me. And you also talk about him as if you personally know him. Are you two familiar?

Maboroshi: ...

Shinji: (No talk, huh?)

Shinji: Anyway, I heard there were other lucids before me - so why not ask them?

Maboroshi: That is because I needed someone who wouldn't disregard this world as a mere fantasy and use it as their playground. Someone who would understand the stakes at hand. I desperately need help...

Shinji: Well, it is a DREAM after all, so...

Maboroshi: ...

Shinji: ... Sorry, that wasn't a sensible thing of me to say.

Maboroshi: It's alright. Your disbelief is understandable.

Shinji: So what am I supposed to do?

Maboroshi: As you're a human being, I'm pretty sure he's more willing to hear you out more. I know it might be a tall order, considering I don't even know where you live and who you are - but please seek him out... Please tell him to not abandon this world.

Shinji: ...

Maboroshi: Very well; if you've gotten all the answers, I must test your abilities once again—

Shinji: Hold on a second! Another battle?! Sheesh, just give me a break already!

Maboroshi: I've seen how you fight. You have a lot of latent potential as a fledgling lucid dreamer. However what you had experienced this far is only the beginning of your trials.

Shinji: What?!

Maboroshi: The lucid you're about to face, like I said, is way more capable than me in battle. And if someone even like me, the ruler of this land, struggles with him, I can't ensure that you'll be able to stand your ground against him.

Maboroshi: This world is hostile on account of this peril, you'll face many challenges ahead of you - and I want you to come out of that night fully prepared for everything that might entail.

Shinji: ...

Maboroshi: I know it is a lot of responsibility that has been dropped at once, but please heed my call. Otherwise there's no telling if there's another chance for me. My time here is limited beyond my control.

Maboroshi: You'll do... A huge favour for me if you help me.

Shinji: ...

Shinji: I'll see what I can do.

Maboroshi: Thank you... Truly.

Maboroshi: Now then—,

[Music Starts]

Maboroshi: As the sovereign of this dream land, I shall hold a trial by combat to prove your worth! Prove it to me that you're worthy of being the dream world's hero!

Shinji: Bring it on!
