Somewhere in the distant past...

"Heeeeeeey, Myonji~~~!!!" The girl waved at the priest while they were on their duty

"Oh, hey Uri-chan. Strolling past your permit once again?"

"Duh! I mean, what else can I do inside my house? My dad had found the book that you've rented to me and burned it. What a shame, I almost read til the end and I wanted to return today, but he said that you have plenty of books or something. Such a bummer."

"Was it good at least?"

"It was GREAT! You Wadano people always have such awe inspiring stuff! The pirate goes pew-pow! And the beast goes oof-ahh! I... Sorry, I genuinely can't describe it in such a way that doesn't make me sound like a small girl."

"Ah, it's alright. The most important part is that you liked it. Serious shame that the chieftain had burned it, it was a very important heirloom..."

"He's the worst! He is only concerned about me conceiving him a grandchild! I mean... I am 23, but... I still don't feel like I'm ready, you know? And he's like only 49, I'm sure he'll wait!... Seriously I wish I was in your household, your parents are so sweet! Like, imagine me being your little cousin, huh?"

"Oh, shut up you."

Young people laughed for a brief moment, before the heiress expression became mellow

"... I really want my parents to disappear. They have been too controlling of me... And you too. They always keep saying that the Wadano influence is dwindling."

"There is a truth to it though, recently we had less and less visitors..."

"But you're the rumoured original descendants of our god! If not for you guys, we wouldn't have even existed on this small, yet wonderful island! I think more people should acknowledge you!"

"Really? I guess you're right..."

"Once I'll become a chieftain, I'll return the Wadano clan back to its glory! Us Kurokane are just leeches that came, right?!"

"Please don't say that about your clan. You're still a part of it after all..."

"Yeah... You're right..."

In that innocent banter, the heiress kept hiding one fact from the priest. The fact that might get a rise from her father, no, the whole village in general.

She loved the priest very dearly.

Despite knowing them since teenage years, she still felt like she didn't know much about the priest. What is their gender, preferences, etc. The priest tended to avoid such questions, as they would make them instantly uncomfortable: but the heiress couldn't care less. In fact, if it makes them happy, then she's fine not knowing. To her, the priest was her best friend, the one person that she can safely confide in.

But she couldn't muster up the courage to tell her about her feelings

"Maybe next time I'll tell them!" She always kept thinking to herself. And each time she would feel that confessing to them would feel too inappropriate for the priest. So she waited.

Unfortunately that time never came.

At first, she thought she found a new love, a person that would help her to move on from an ever-so busy priest, but that person would betray that trust.

That person had violently defiled her, and when the priest came, it turned out to be late.

That person had impregnated her.

She always kept crying in her room, wishing that she should've died already, blaming herself for even letting the person in her room in the first place. And the priest was always close by. The priest blamed themself in fact, as they lamented the fact that they should've come sooner, so that none of this would have happened. She endured various abortion techniques, each more painful than the last, but it was all in vain. She was too weakened, so it was decided to let her birth the child and then kill it.

"Tenmuyonji... What will happen next?" She kept asking, her bright orange hair would dull out and she was extremely thin. The priest just couldn't answer her. The conclusion was foregone, and they couldn't comfort the heiress. She was too disturbed to even engage in her previous hobbies to alleviate the pain in her heart and mind.

She wished that the child should just die already, or crawl out prematurely so it would've perished from her body... But once she finally gave birth to it, for a brief moment she felt comfort.

Sure, it wasn't the perfect baby she had in mind, but it was beautiful in its own right. It had brown hair, tiny pointy ears and small horns. It looked so serene, and she wanted to hold it; to bond with her precious child.

But it was denied

The child was taken away from her and she was too weak to even protest. The fate of that child is sealed. It will be unceremoniously executed. The only comforting thing was that she didn't have to see it

And so she spent all of her days in her room. Barely getting out of her bed and barely eating. No matter how much comfort she received, it still wasn't enough. To her, everything was over and she just wanted to have a suitor that would give her the child again so that her clan would continue on without her.

It lasted for twelve years, she had stopped talking to anyone and she was barely hanging by the thread, until... She heard about the priest's demon spawn. It can't be... Her child was alive this whole time?! She wanted to see it, but her father immediately gave an order to execute Tenmuyonji and that child for disobedience on the priest's part.

They had caught the priest and they held a hanging execution, and this time, the heiress had to see it. The priest pledged for their mercy, saying that by executing them, they will incur the wrath of Wadanojin, but no one listened. The priest was hanged and the heiress snapped.

Just as she heard about her beloved priest saving and caring for her child for all those years, they got executed, right in front of her eyes. Father tried to comfort her, saying that the Wadano priest was just disobeying their orders, but she ran away deep into the woods. And during her run, she found a rusty knife lying around. At that moment, she proclaimed that she will return to Wadano, and she slit her throat.

She would not have known what would happen next on the island, as during that time, she was in the netherworld, waiting for her judgement. While to others, the Wadano no Tenmuyonji became a feared Onryo, who would later become a Tatarigami of Kirishima; to her Wadano no Tenmuyonji was just an unjustly hanged person. A person she held dear to her heart.

And the Tatarigami of Kirishima that is wandering around the island? To her it was just somebody that wears Tenmuyonji's mask

And to some extent, she would be absolutely right
