Part 2: About Sunao Fujisaki

It's about time I introduce myself. Let this be a mini-autobiography.

I'm Sunao Fujisaki, the current chronicler and historian of Kirishima. I unfortunately can't really remember who I was before I ended up here, but one thing is certain is that I'm not from around here. I don't belong here.

Ever since I got there, ever since I saw that person in my almost-dying dream: I was interested in this island's history. This island... Is its own community. While it resembles ancient Japan (more specifically the Heian period), its society is odd and almost cultlike. They were all paranoid about the arrival of Tatarigami and avoided me like a plague since I was considered a "prayer" - a person on a chopping block for Tatarigami to sacrifice to their master.

I was rescued by Gentei (玄亭) and his assistant Hifumi (ひふみ), who arrived on the island by boat to search for the relative of his. He brought me to the nearby village and basically threatened the chieftain to let us stay...

And on that night I saw the Tatarigami firsthand. Indeed, they were terrifying. With their neck having marks of hanging, their eyes being crimson red full of pure hatred and their ghastly body, being pale as a chalk... I wanted to run away from them, wishing it was a terrible nightmare.

However, as I kept encountering them more and more, I started to become interested... I was starting to go insane.

It didn't help that my partner - Gentei, turned out to be a truly despicable amanojaku who was responsible for the tragedy. It didn't help that my first friend and protector on this island - Amekari Nijimura (虹村・雨狩) was a Tatarigami fanatic who was a serial killer, who even killed his own older brother - Tsurikaze Nijimura (虹村・釣風) out of jealousy (since he was also my close friend). It didn't help that I kept seeing various illusions almost every day. It didn't help that I was basically on the run because of my basic instinct to cling onto life.

I... I started digging deeper. Both metaphorically and literally. I had to rob various graves for clues as to what happened on this island. I started to get almost the whole picture... But I'm afraid it'll go on its own separate section. And I still haven't found all of the secrets of this island.

For example... Why is there a constant fog?

In any case, I wish I could find every answer to the questions that linger in my head.

I did my best to document Tatarigami and Wadanojin as they seem to be the most interesting people on this island. And hopefully... I'll see them soon enough.

I also adopted a child tsukumogami of a brush who calls itself Yasuke (安毛) and now it won't stop bothering me.
